I was very surprised to see all the good reviews for this place... I took my car here for a buyer's check. They did a thorough job on the check and I had no problem with anything they found. However, the prices they were quoting to the potential buyer to fix the issues were absolutely astronomical. She knew nothing about cars, so she had no way of knowing that. He also neglected to explain to her in layman's terms, which repairs were 'needs' and which were 'wants'. He presented everything as if it absolutely had to be done, which it did not. I find this is common with mechanics who speak to women in Texas, but I was disappointed to experience it here in Austin. He was describing each issue in technical terms at top speed, and at no time did he slow down or ask the lady if she would like more information, or if she understood. It was left for me to explain to her, and that just looks shady, because obviously I am the one selling my car. The mechanic should be the one to make sure she understands, not the seller.

In addition, I was very put off by the fact that this man referred to us as 'girls'. "Come on back, girls"... "Have a seat, girls". This may have been fine in 1960 but I don't really appreciate it in the year 2017. He was also somewhat standoffish and rude towards me (although very nice to the potential buyer, of course, as she was the one paying him). I was disappointed because I had heard good things about this place and thought I might be able to recommend it to some of my friends who live in North Austin. But I would definitely not recommend it after today.

In short, sexist attitude, high prices, potentially taking advantage of an uninformed consumer... no thank you
